TV price drop: £35,000 to £2400!

If you were well off and bought an 85-inch Samsung TV in 2014 – the price would have been around £35,000!! Wot!

I knew that was a ridiculous price but it was the sort of price for that size of TV back then – 10+ years ago. So I took a photo in 2014. All my photos are stored in Google, so I recovered the shot. To be clear – just in case – I have never purchased a TV for greater than £799, and that was a 50-inch 12 years ago. That one broke down just before the 5 year mark, on warranty. ‘They’ replaced it at no cost to me. The replacement was better quality and 55 inches. I still have that TV and it works fine.

Today the price of a typical Samsung 85-inch TV is around £2,400. That’s 15 times less – and the technology of today is probably about 50 times better.

I also recall that 12 years ago, certain colleagues were feeling chuffed about their 40-inch LED TV that they paid around £4,500 for. I got me a cheap TV at £799, as mentioned above, which was bigger and better than theirs. Of course, I couldn’t tell them that. Why? Ooooo.. one tries on occasions not to offend anybody. 🤨🤣😂🙈 Yuh know, some people like to have the latest and the best – and that’s fine; I don’t tell people how to spend their money.

I am not even thinking of buying a new TV – just to be clear – and require no advice.
