Observations on the world and its inhabitants
The tranquillity of a sunny afternoon can quickly transform into a scene of chaos when a wildfire erupts, engulfing homes and livelihoods in its path. Recent events, such as the devastating fires in Los Angeles, serve as stark reminders of the ever-present danger of tail risk. While cutting costs might seem prudent in the short ...
This article is not designed to be a book review. I have not read the whole book as yet: “The Manipulated Man” by Esther Vilar. Of course, you never heard of her. Who cares! To learn less do not read Wikipedia. I have read several parts of the book and will complete it soon. This ...
Within the area of knowledge dissemination, a concerning phenomenon has occupied my mind for many years. It is characterised by the propagation of misleading information cloaked in seemingly plausible rhetoric, often endorsed by individuals perceived as authorities. This phenomenon, is now coined by me as “sophistry-veiled untruths” (SVU). It poses a significant challenge to the ...
This is about the murder of Sara Sharif. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) released a statement following the sentencing of Sara Sharif’s father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beinash Batool. The CPS described Sara as a “lively and joyful 10-year-old girl whose life was tragically cut short by the very people who should have protected and ...
As I was saying…people are stupid and lazy! This is in a doctor’s forum, so the balance of probability is that the person making the OP is a doctor. Most lay persons do not know of the PANSS and won’t be seeking it. It is a highly specialised instrument. Do I give flying banana flamingo ...
This article is not to say that Christopher Langan – a man supposedly with an IQ of close to 200 – is a personal hoax. His IQ between 195 to 200 as widely reported over the years, has never been properly validated. I did not know of Langan until 48 hours ago. Something popped up ...
This post and the embedded video is for mature audiences only! Tough – it offends any so-called adult. No one has a right to be not offended, except where there is a specific breach of law. Freedom of expression (a human right) means that on occasion somebody will feel offended. And whilst Freedom of expression ...
What?!! Some have never heard of Sigmas, obviously. This is not going to be a lecture on the topic. To learn more do your own reading! Sigma is not a validated personality type. The researchers are yet to find it. Some may recall that the cure for scurvy was found 50 years before the research ...
Situations where authority trumps logic continue to weigh on my mind. As a doctor, I often find myself in situations where I need to break down complex concepts into simple, digestible pieces of information for patients and staff. Despite my best efforts to avoid medical jargon and make these explanations as clear as possible, I ...
Well, Jordan Peterson has his ‘12 Rules for Life‘. The Ferengi have their ‘Rules of Acquisition‘, so I just got a bee in my bonnet and created my 50 rules! Rule #1: “A closed mouth gathers no feet.” Rule #2: “Never trust anyone who says ‘trust me.'” Rule #3: “Efficiency is the highest form of ...
If you don’t know who the Ferengi are, then you need to get a life!
I’m becoming more aware based on a series of observations in the last 10 years that there is a serious shift in the way people think and react to things. The main issue is that perception seems to become reality for individuals, and as a result of ease of electronic communications groups of people sharing ...
Well, I’ve obviously been very busy ‘elsewhere’ – so not much activity on this site. I’m told by the authority of GOD – apparently – that life on earth began ~6000 years ago. This means that dinosaurs did not exist millions of years ago – and that their fossils are all fake. Apparently a sizeable ...
I am just terrible! I confuse people – all the time! What – are you waiting to learn more – and then to go ‘To be fair’? Push on!
In our quest to make the most of our personal time, we often find ourselves gravitating towards activities that bring us pleasure, satisfaction, and a sense of purpose. Whether it’s indulging in leisure pursuits, exploring creative outlets, or engaging in community service, the ways we choose to spend our free time are deeply intertwined with ...
This exploration may be a difficult one as the concept of the ‘Guarded Heart’ unfolds. References to love between man and woman also means love between two people of any orientation. This journey does not aim to provide solutions, answers, or advice to anyone The Silent Shadow: When Love Becomes Fear Fear of love casts ...
Well, I do spend time on forums as some know to wrestle with parts of human nature that some totally avoid. Today I am led to infer that the reading ability of doctors in some significant proportion could be stuck at around UK year 9, based on the captioned encounter below. This post is not ...
Love between two hearts is a symphony of feelings, a dance that transforms the world around us. This journey we embark upon explores the tender bonds between a man and a woman, though the essence of love’s beauty may resonate in many forms. This blog and video cannot cover every different kind of love, nor ...
In the canvas of human relationships, there exists a phenomenon that cuts to the core of our social nature – the experience of being a “throw away person”. This term describes individuals who find themselves unexpectedly and inexplicably cast aside by those they once considered close friends or confidants. To be clear, this post is ...
The craze surrounding the site Onemillioncheckboxes (OMCB) reflects an interesting intersection of collaborative and competitive online behaviour. The concept of one million checkboxes, initially designed to be checked off collectively, has evolved into a platform for users to express creativity, engage in community-driven projects, and even participate in virtual tug-of-war scenarios. The NHS could learn ...
I’ve written before on justification. If you don’t like thinking, then what on earth are you doing surfing this site. You are a disgrace to the human race. I couldn’t give a flying flamingo if you don’t like thinking right now because you have a zillion other things on your busy agenda.
In a groundbreaking study, a team of researchers at the International Institute of Quantum Idiocy (IIQI) has discovered a new set of particles that is believed to be the fundamental building blocks of stupidity. The particle, named the “stupidion,” has a unique set of properties that set it apart from all other known particles in ...
You may not like the evidence. Reality is what it is. Reality doesn’t care what you think or feel about anything! That’s it. I rest my case!
Logic, not emotion, will prevail in this post. What happened: Dr Mosely was found dead after a major search for him on the Greek island of Symi. He is mourned by his wife and children. Inferences You do not need to be a doctor to know the following: Conclusion The intelligent and educated are not ...
Following on from August 2023, when I said ‘I’m an Uber driver‘, another situation arose today around 19:15PM. I am obviously not in control over what people may perceive and then draw a probable interference. Something about my appearance or that taken together with the colour or shape or model of my car, led to ...
In the pursuit of freedom, many often focus on external factors such as the ability to travel, to spend money, acquire possessions, or surround themselves with friends. While these aspects of freedom are undoubtedly important, there exists a deeper, more personal form of liberation that emerges from embracing solitude and cultivating a rich inner life. ...
Don’t ask – “How do these situations happen to you only?”. Right let me get into it straight away. It’s today 29/05/2024, I’ve left my room on the third floor of a hotel, on the way out to get to a domiciliary visit. I see a man who appeared be about 70 y.o, just outside ...
In the grand cosmic saga of life in the universe, the Drake equation has long stood as a guiding light for those seeking to understand the prevalence of extraterrestrial intelligence. This elegant mathematical formula, conceived by astronomer Frank Drake in 1961, has captured the imaginations of scientists and dreamers alike, offering a tantalising framework for ...
Expanding on the Fifteen observations on stupid statements and stupid people I now create the Hitchhiker’s Guide to Stupidity! This list will be expanded in time. Celestial and galactic Viral and infectious Humanity and stupidity IT and social media Dangers and powers Education and stupidity.
I am the way I am because of my life-experiences and particular knowledge. I make decisions based on those and of course applying the rules of logic. Other people, not uncommonly, do not understand or grasp why I do what I do or what I decide. I cannot communicate to each and every person the ...
